Law Firm of Faraji A. Rosenthall (2009 – present)

Faraji Rosenthall has dedicated his entire legal career to Fairfax criminal law. Born and raised in Fairfax County, he stayed close to home to study at Georgetown Law School. The son of a criminal lawyer, he naturally gravitated towards criminal law during his studies. As one of the top law schools in the country, Faraji was exposed to many prestigious professors.

In school, his criminal law course was taught by the esteemed Julie O’Sullivan. A former clerk to Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, the professor’s credentials are unparallel in the criminal law field. Studying under such an esteemed mentor quickly solidified Faraji’s passion for criminal justice.  During his first summer he interned with the nonprofit organization Families Against Mandatory Minimums (FAMM). The organization provided an excellent opportunity to work with individuals facing lengthy, often absurdly unfair, prison sentences at both the federal and state level. The next summer was spent working with a judge in the Fairfax County Circuit Court. Most attorneys never are able to work for a judge. It is a rare position not afforded to many students. That work provided an invaluable insight into the inner workings of the Fairfax Courts and the thought processes of an esteemed judge.

Former Fairfax VA Prosecutor

After graduating law school, Mr. Rosenthall received was appointed as an Assistant Commonwealth Attorney in Fairfax County. That position is referred to as a Prosecutor or District Attorney in other jurisdictions. Working in that job for over four years, Faraji was responsible for prosecuting a wide range of crimes from simple traffic offenses to complex robberies and manslaughters. Working as a Prosecutor, particularly at Fairfax is an unbelievably powerful tool for gaining knowledge of the Fairfax criminal system. Prosecutors in Fairfax are in court 5 days a week, 52 weeks a year, handling nothing but criminal cases. They are each expected to regularly handle every case in an entire courtroom. It is not unusual for a Fairfax Prosecutor to handle 10 DWIs, 20 Reckless Driving cases, and 6 Felony cases in a single day. That’s more cases than even the busiest defense attorney handles in a month.

In 2009, the Law Office of Faraji Rosenthall was founded. The goal of the firm was to use the knowledge and skill Faraji gained working for a judge and the government to help people charged with crimes in Fairfax County. Since opening its doors Faraji has worked with hundreds of people to get successful outcomes on their cases.
